HomeMy WebLinkAboutCommunications Creative AssistantCITY OF IOWA CITY – Job Description Job Class #04-17 FLSA Non-Exempt Civil Service Identification Position Title: Communications Creative Assistant Department: City Manager’s Office Division: Communications Supervisor: Communications Coordinator Job Summary Under general direction, provides creative support and assistance to the Communications Division through the creation of marketing pieces, including writing, graphic design and photography. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Attends bi-weekly staff meetings and participates in Communication planning for the organization Consults with departments and divisions to assess marketing needs and objectives Assists with social media and website postings. Provides high quality photography, creates and manages image repository Creates graphic design images for promotional campaigns Assists with the promotion of City initiatives. Assists with information desk coverage by answering phone calls and helping customers as needed. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Education, Experience and Certification High school diploma or equivalent required. Demonstrated skills in graphic design, photography and writing required through certification or on-the-job experience. Must pass criminal background check. Preferred Education, Experience and Certification Spanish proficiency a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skills in oral and written communication. Ability to work directly with a diverse clientele and maintain good working relationships. Ability to write, edit, organize, provide graphic design and quality photography.
