Historic Preservation Year -in -review
Historic Preservation Planner Bristow presented a power point on the following:
- Background on the National Historic Preservation Act and the Certified Local Government
(CLG) Program.
- Maps outlining Iowa City's Historic Districts, Conservation Districts and Local Landmarks.
- Historic Preservation Commission — General Information, Locating Historic Properties, Local
Historic Landmarks, Managing, Protecting, and preserving Historic Properties, the Historic
Preservation Fund
- Public Education and the Historic Preservation Awards Banquet.
- Summary of Commission accomplishments, projects, grants, successes and challenges.
Individual Council members expressed their views.
Police Department Outreach Update
Police Captain Brotherton, Community Outreach Assistant Torres,
with K-9 Luke presented the following:
- Updates to the Community Outreach Division
- Upcoming Events
- Introductions by Torres and Neeld
Community Relations Officer Neeld
- Blue Able Project — Autism Awareness and Disability awareness program
Individual Council members expressed their views.
Clarification of Agenda Items
• [4] Proclamations ... Mayor Teague noted there were several proclamations to read at the formal
meeting and asked for volunteers from the Council to help read them.
• [8.a] UISG Appointment... Council member Taylor thanked former UISG Alternate Liaison Charlotte
Lenkaitis for her service and welcomed Ryan Longnecker as the new Alternate.

1. (IP4, Pending City Council Work Session Topics) City Manager Fruin noted the Climate
Action Commission would possibly be presenting at the next work session.
2. (IP5, 2018-2019 Strategic Plan Summary Report) Mayor Teague gave a reminder for the
Strategic Plan Meeting Tuesday, 3/10 at 1:00 PM at the Eastside Recycling Center —
Education Center — 2401 Scott Blvd SE
