Electronic Meeting (Pursuant to Iowa Code section 21.8) An electronic meeting was held because a meeting in person was impossible or impractical due to concerns for the health and safety of council members, staff and the public presented by COVID-19. COVID-19 Update Dr. Eli Perencevich and Dr. Michael Edmond from the University of Iowa presented information regarding COVID-19 and face masks vs. face shields. City Manager Fruin provided a City services update. Individual Council members expressed their views. Action: Staff and Councilor Mims will bring the concept of bulk purchasing face shields to the regional Better Together collaboration. Continue Development of the 2020-21 Strategic Plan Assistant City Manager Monroe presented a power point and reviewed language/changes from the May 19 work session. City Manager Fruin provided additional information. Individual Council members expressed their views. Action: Staff will revise the final changes to the Strategic Plan per Council’s discussion and include as a resolution for approval at the June 16th meeting. Clarification of Ag enda Items Mayor Teague noted he would be making a statement regarding the George Floyd killing during the formal meeting. Information Packet Discussion [May 21, May 28] ➢ May 21 1. (IP2, Memo from Housing Administrator: Grant Notification: The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering the Iowa City Housing Authority (ICHA) 18 new Mainstream Vouchers and an increase in budget authority of $119,972.) Council member Mims noted she was happy to see the increase in vouchers. Council Work Session June 2, 2020 Page 2 ➢ May 28 1.
