PROCLAMATION
Whereas, the State of Iowa's surface and ground waters are treasured and limited natural
resources; and
Whereas, protecting and preserving those water resources requires the talent, expertise, and
passion of individuals who have committed their professional careers in service to Iowa City's
residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural community members; and
Whereas, the Water and Wastewater Divisions of the Iowa City Department of Public Works
have dedicated themselves to applying environmental science to enhance drinking and
recreational waters of Iowa City; and
Whereas, their applied environmental science -based practices continue to be a vital element in
improving the quality of life and preserving and protecting public health in our community and
promoting sustainability.
Now Therefore, I, Bruce Teague, Mayor of Iowa City, Iowa hereby proclaim the week of
August 16 to August 22, 2020 as
Water and Wastewater Workers of Iowa Week
in Iowa City, and urge our community members to recognize the valuable role clean water plays
in our daily lives.
