This Commission conducts formal meetings the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. (Informal workshops are held the preceding Mondays at 5:30 p.m. on a as needed basis.) I have significant experience in working with the public and private sectors to address housing and service needs for households that are very low income or homeless and have worked to build strategic partnerships across our community. My understanding is that the Commission works in consultation with City staff to make recommendations to the City Council in matters of amendments, changes, and modifications to the current zoning ordinance in the context of existing uses and new land use needs, developments, and priorities as informed by the City of Iowa City Comprehensive Plan and where possible to advance Council's strategic goals.
