Proposal addresses childcare services through Head Start.
Provision of public services, including but not limited to, childcare
and youth activities, are a high priority need in City Steps.
Services Provided (Q3)
Proposal requests operational funding for Head Start services, which
includes preschool and childcare. Project contributes towards
achievement of goals in City Steps – specifically provision of public
services.

Program offers support for dual language learners. In the 2021 –
2022 school year, the agency reports that 32% of families served
through the program were dual language families. About 68% of
FY23 clients listed as non-white. 8% with Hispanic, Latino, or
Spanish origin.

Reported serving 6,109 residents in Iowa City in FY22. More

Funding request of $27,510 / 3980 = $6.91. Commissioners may
also consider cost effectiveness for the extent of services.
